Obama: We Should Talk to Our Enemies, Like Roosevelt Did in the Past I Just Now Made Up in My Head
Behold the power of the Obamessiah to change history!
The other side can label and name-call all they want, but I trust the American people to recognize that it is not surrender to end the war in Iraq so that we can rebuild our military and go after Al Qaida’s leaders.
I trust the American people to understand that it is not weakness, but wisdom to talk not just to our friends, but to our enemies, like Roosevelt did, and Kennedy did, and Truman did.
You remember, don’t you, how FDR had all those sit-down talks with Hitler and Tojo and Mussolini right in the middle of World War II? And who could forget the heartfelt diplomacy between Truman and Emperor Hirohito that led Japan to surrender.
Oh wait. That wasn’t diplomacy that Truman sent to Hirohito. That was a pair of atomic bombs. And Roosevelt did his talking after firebombing Dresden, nearly razing Germany, and driving Hitler to the despair that caused him to shoot himself in the head in a god-forsaken bunker.
Hmmm…Kennedy, perhaps? I bet he was a talky-talky type. Though I seem to remember Kennedy’s talking to our enemies being along the lines of, “If those ships get to Cuba I swear I will nuke the living shit out of you”.
Alas, the Obamessiah has not the power to change history. We’re just looking at yet another example of his not knowing that the hell he’s talking about and hoping that we Americans are dumb enough to follow him no matter what. Thus far, it’s working in the MSM and among rich Democratic snobs. Whether it works on the rest of the Democratic party remains to be seen. Hopefully America is smart enough to recognize a con artist when they really see one.
I also like Ed Morrissey’s take on Obama’s speech:
I’m particularly bemused by the references to FDR and Truman. Both men ended up having to conduct massive wars that outlasted their presidencies, and in FDR’s case in no small measure because Western nations insisted on talk rather than action. While we maintained diplomatic contact with Germany and Japan until Pearl Harbor, FDR did not meet with Hitler and Tojo. And that diplomatic contact didn’t stop war from coming; indeed, it make it much worse than it otherwise would have been, at least in Europe, had the US, UK, and France had taken the appropriate steps to disarm Hitler when he started his Versailles Treaty violations.
To quote Otter and Boon in Animal House, “Germans?” “Forget it man, he’s rolling”.

Don't blame Barack….he wasn't in church that Sunday to hear about what we did to Hiroshima & Nagasaki, and chickens roosting & what-not.
And what of McCain's blind spots? AQ are Shiites and were trained in Iran? Whatever, dude…
Americans deserve the leadership they vote for. Perhaps you can blame your neighbor because so few Americans actually choose to vote.
