This Commercial Brings All the Christmas Joy
This may be my favorite Christmas commercial. I smile every time it comes on. It serves as a remind that it doesn’t necessarily matter how expensive or elaborate you gift is, so long as you deliver it right on target.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4 - So, Pirate Zombies Again Is It?
The trailer to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which is the fourth movie in the franchise, is out and it looks pretty solid. The movie is based on a superlative novel called (surprise!) On Stranger Tides, by Tim Powers. If the movie hews close to the book, then it will likely be the [...]
The Delivery Presents - Two Things Are Certain, and They’re Both in This Show
I originally had three or four topics lined up for each half of Episode 68 but, as so often happens, I got on a roll and had to leave a few of them on the table. I imagine we’ll be talking about the President’s tax deal for at least the rest of the year, and [...]
“Sax and Violence” and a Little Bell
I really miss the Muppet show. The more I watch it as an adult the more I realize how grown-up the humor and music really were. Also, how many chances did you have to see two of my favorite Muppets who never got much of the spotlight, Zoot and the Manah Manah Guy?
The New Zombie Apocalypse: Darabont Fires All His Writers
I admit, I got excited when I learned that AMC was going to turn the very well-regarded comic series “The Walking Dead” into a television series. I’m a fan of zombie apocalypse fiction and figured that a good dramatic end of the world series was long overdue (actually, I was hoping for Robert McCammon’s Swan [...]
John, Paul, George, and…Samwise? Oh, Thank You, Mr. Tolkien!
We should all be thankful to J.R.R. Tolkien today. Not only did he give the world one of the greatest creative gifts ever in Middle Earth, but he also saved us from a disaster that would have haunted us through the generations to this very day. What disaster, you might ask? Well, how about a [...]
The Television Series is Afoot!
I did not get to see the American premiere of the BBC’s new Sherlock Holmes series, but it’s tucked into the digital safety of my DVR, so I’ll get to it this week when I have time to settle in and give it a good watch. I’m usually very hesitant to watch “reimagined” television shows [...]
I Was Fine Until the Mi-Go Showed Up
I’m going to have a hard time waiting until 2011 for this movie to get released. “The Whisperer in Darkness” is another adaptation of a very good H.P. Lovecraft story done by the same folks who turned “The Call of Cthulhu” into a very entertaining silent movie. Here’s the second trailer (the first is here). [...]
