Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope that you spend the day surrounded by family and friends, or some pleasant combination of both.
As has become tradition around here, I’m posting the finest Thanksgiving entertainment I’ve ever seen — the “Turkeys Away” episode of WKRP in Cincinnati. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Also, you might enjoy this episode of Jenny Erikson’s old podcast The Smart Girl Report from 2009. She spent about 40 minutes talking with James the Pilgrim from America’s distant past. For reasons probably related to the strange time-traveling technology that allowed Jenny to send her cell phone back to the year 1621 (or maybe 1622), the Pilgrim’s British accent is not always as British as you might expect. Any similarity in those no-accented moments to a more familiar voice is entirely coincidental, I’m sure. You might also want to employ a few of Dan Collins’ helpful hints for a harmonious Thanksgiving.
Finally, please spend a few minutes today remembering our soldiers who are far from home and say a prayer for their safe return. They’ve spend years of their lives for us they can never get back; they deserve the very best we can do for them and thousands upon thousands of prayers can’t hurt at all.
Enjoy the day and be sure to check back at The Shack later this evening and tomorrow for more posts, which will include a post full of handy ways you can put a little money in my pocket while you do your online Black Friday shopping.
Thank you for your support throughout the year and God bless you all!
