She knew my huband, my sister-in-law and me to the very end. The doctors and nurses who cared for her said it was because we were constantly there with her, never ignoring her. I do think she was not the usual case. She was exceptionally strong physically and mentally during her life and her motto was &quot;never give up,&quot; and &quot;gotta keep trying.&quot;
I know of one case where a judge with Alzheimer&#039;s didn&#039;t recognize his wife, and carried on an &quot;affair&quot; with another patient. The wife forgave it all, and stayed in the picture.
