The Political Trip That’s Not A Political Trip Starring the Community Organizer Who is President
On Friday, the Mouth of Sauron assured us that the President’s three-state bus tour was not at all a campaign trip. I want to quote exactly what he said, if for no other reason than to give you a sense of how outrageous his lie really was.
“The fact is that the president is not engaged in a primary election, and he is doing what presidents do, which is go out in the country and engage with the American people, have discussions about the economy and other policy issues,” Carney told reporters. “To suggest that any time the president leaves Washington it’s a political trip would mean that presidents could never leave unless they were physically campaigning on their own behalf, and he’s not; he’s out here doing his job and meeting with the American people.”
Did you get that? He’s not campaigning. This is not a political trip. He’s just having a discussion.
Never mind the mocking impression of Mitt Romney or the dig at Rick Perry or the shots at House Republicans he’s made so far. None of that’s political. He’s just engaging with the American people. Okay, not all of them. There were a few Americans he wouldn’t engage — the ones who asked him why his Vice President called them terrorists.
But it’s okay! It’s not a political trip. Not even a little bit.
As the president embarked on his Midwestern bus tour, stopping in Minnesota and Iowa and small businesses along the way, he fired off his most intense criticism of Congress yet, warning lawmakers they will be defeated if they continue to obstruct his policies.
“If your voices are heard, then sooner or later these guys have to start paying attention,” Obama said in Iowa on Monday. “And if they don’t start paying attention, then they’re not going to be in office and we will have a new Congress in there that will start paying attention to what is going on all across America.”
Gosh, how could that ever be construed as political campaigning? Clearly that’s community organizing, which as we know from the President’s many MSM defenders is a pursuit too pure to be pursued by a politician.
Yep, just some good, old-fashioned community organizing where he can blame everyone else for the problems he has no idea how to fix and for which he won’t have to pay one thin dime. And doesn’t that just about sum up the President’s entire political career?
