Clearing the Browser Tabs - Wisconsin Union Thug Throwdown Monday Edition

| August 8, 2011 | Comments (1)

The battle over whether the petulant left will gets its way in Wisconsin continues this week. Already, the unions have threatened an independent media outlet with violence if it doesn’t report the way the thugs want it to. More progressive backup will arrive early in the week when MS-NBC arrives to provide a little propaganda cover.

The Tea Parties have gotten some much-needed support from FreedomWorks and a couple other national organizations, but it may have arrived too late. The unions and other progressive groups have poured an awful lot of money into the recall effort, including half a million dollars in a one-day advertising blitz.

The heart of the matter is this: teachers’ unions lost a great deal of control thanks to Governor Scott Walker and Republicans in the state legislature who were put there by the people of the state. They want it back and will use any means at their disposal to get it. It does not matter to them that the budget plans passed by the Republicans have saved jobs and turned deficits into surpluses nor does it matter that the children in Wisconsin schools are better off now than they were before those budget plans passed. What matters to them is that they no longer hold the whip hand over the taxpayers.

I sincerely hope the embattled Republicans fend off the left’s attempt to monkey around with the democratic process. We all will be better off when the teachers’ unions are broken once and for all.

And now, links!

  • Stephen Green found a new nickname for the President hidden in the latest jobs report and he’d like a little help to make it stick.
  • Dacia Nichol noticed a disturbing trend to how our President’s decisions, or lack thereof, affect our soldiers.
  • I’m sure it’s a coincidence that over 2/3 of the post offices slated for closure over the next six months are in Republican districts. It is no coincidence that most of the whining about the closures has come from Democrats, though.
  • So the Democrats want tax hikes, do they? Glenn Reynolds has a couple of real doozies for them.
  • In this administration, the gears of progress…umm…mesh really well.
  • Why are progressive women such bullies? And why can’t they ever take what they so eagerly dish out?
  • This is the time of year when we tend to hear stories about how the bombings of Hiroshima or Nagasaki were unnecessarily and perhaps even a “war crime”. PJTV dug out one of Bill Whittle’s Afterburner shows that slam-dunks those myths conclusively. It’s worth a watch. Bill laid out the situation at that time very succinctly, and with plenty of supporting evidence.
  • This is what happens when you hustle and keep looking for opportunities to succeed.
