Friday Night Awesomeness Break: Five Minutes of Neil Peart

If this 5-minute (give or take) Neil Peart drum solo from last night’s episode of David Letterman’s show doesn’t give you a couple good cases of the chillbumps, then we really need to talk.

A few things to note:

  1. Neil was in control of all the instruments, including the big band group at the end. Watch his mouth as he’s working the high-hat and you can see him counting off four before the band comes back in.
  2. Yes, he has two drum sets on a revolving stage and yes, he’ll play both of them.
  3. Nobody but nobody does the crossover drumstick move better than Neil.
  4. The applause afterwards should have been twice as loud. No Letterman audience is going to see a better exhibition of musical talent, hard work, and experience than that audience did that night.

    Last time Rush went through town I took my then 17 year old son. They played a full 3 hour show. Fantastic
