Friday Night Awesomeness Break: Five Minutes of Neil Peart
If this 5-minute (give or take) Neil Peart drum solo from last night’s episode of David Letterman’s show doesn’t give you a couple good cases of the chillbumps, then we really need to talk.
A few things to note:
- Neil was in control of all the instruments, including the big band group at the end. Watch his mouth as he’s working the high-hat and you can see him counting off four before the band comes back in.
- Yes, he has two drum sets on a revolving stage and yes, he’ll play both of them.
- Nobody but nobody does the crossover drumstick move better than Neil.
- The applause afterwards should have been twice as loud. No Letterman audience is going to see a better exhibition of musical talent, hard work, and experience than that audience did that night.
