Clearing the Browser Tabs – Schools Down the Drain Friday Edition
I honestly don’t know how teachers in public schools who use their charges as political props aren’t run out of their towns on a rail. Read this article at Big Government and this lengthy report by Zombie at Pajamas Media, and tell me with a straight face that these teachers have their students’ best interests at heart. There is no reason a teacher should take any student out of school to go to a protest rally. Ever. If a teacher wants to teach civics, they can do so from within the classroom with materials approved by the parents of that district from a curriculum approved by parents from that district. Period. Every one of the “teacher” in those posts I linked should be fired tomorrow, and in a just world they would be.
But this isn’t a just world and none of those so-called educators will face a minute of disciplinary action because they are protected by unions wealthy and influential enough to quite literally buy the decisions of any Democrat politician they like (and more than a few Republicans, for that matter). However, I’d love to see, a few weeks hence, a couple follow-up stories on how the parents of the children misused by their “teachers” raised such a ruckus that the local school officials had no other choice but to act. I’d love to read about “teachers” suspended or fired by the truckload, and replaced by educators who understand that their only duty is to deliver the best education they possibly can, no matter what.
And now, links!
- If you were a bit worried about the economy, you can relax now. The President has appointed a White House Rural Council that’s going to fix everything.
- This AP headline tickled me today: “US judges seem receptive to health care challenge” (via memeorandum).Well that’s awfully nice, isn’t it, for judges to be receptive when someone brings a case before them. It’s almost as if the AP is surprised that judges might listen to the crazy idea that our government is not actually allowed to force us to buy something we don’t want to buy.
- Babalú: “Release me, or I will die”.
- Hunt, hunt hunt, he’s the Huntsman! “Into action” is his cry! From the forest to the city, he will run there in a jiffy, to sock some unnamed entity that appears evil but probably isn’t if you look at it from a certain centrist point of view in the eye! (via memeorandum)
- Why would Tea Party groups praise Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein? It has to do with space exploration and an earmark they killed. Good for them for doing the right thing (via Instapundit).
