I rarely say that my shows are big and important, but Episode 97 just might qualify. If I could, I’d make sure every GOP candidate heard the first half of this week’s show. It struck me a couple weeks ago that our biggest problem as Americans right now doesn’t lie in the political policies from Washington, but in our own attitude toward America. We’ve lost our swagger and no amout of “green eyeshade” talk and policy white papers is going to help us find it again. We need inspiration. That’s what the whole first half of the show is about and the volume does go up a bit, so if a huge dose of passion and outright love for what America is and has been isn’t your cup of tea, skip ahead to the book talk in the second half.
But then again, if that isn’t your cup of tea, I’m not quite sure how you can listen to The Delivery in the first place. I’m pretty much head over heels in love with my country and I don’t have much tolerance for those who like running her down.
I don’t, however, have anything against anyone who wants to institute a three-book minimum on fantasy and sci-fi novel series. Robert Jordan somehow managed to set a standard that no world-spanning plot line can take less than eleventy-bazillion books spread out over a decade. That just has to stop (with a couple notable exceptions, about which you’ll hear in the second half). George R.R. Martin, I’m looking in your direction. The Delivery - Episode 97
