I’m sure someone will come up with a good reason why 77,000 federal employees should each have a higher salary than their Governor, but I’ll be darned if I can think of it. It was also a bit of an eye-opener to learn that 5,000 of those employees are air-traffic controllers. I only mention that because every morning, I have to hear from their union (or lobbying group or whatever it is) about how hard up they are and how they need my support lest the dour hand of evil small government people lay them lower than they are right now.

If you love beautiful space images, check out NASA’s From Earth to the Solar System project. I like the idea of using some of the many thousands of images we’ve gotten from our spacecraft as a way to teach people about the wonder of the universe. Perhaps we can translate that into a renewed manned spaceflight program one day soon.
