The Delivery Presents – Adventure is Good in Aquilonia, Not Libya

“Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Arius, there was an age undreamed of. And onto this, Episode 84 of The Delivery, destined to wear the jeweled crown of podcasting eminence upon a troubled brow. It is I, its creator, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!”

I have been thinking up new drops for the show and it occurred to me that I needed to geek the place up a bit. It also occurred to me that the opening narrative from Conan the Barbarian would make a great drop if I could figure out how to get the right voice and background music. Well, I haven’t found them, but I did mangle the monologue a little bit to fit. And with that mangled quote came the inspiration for last night’s podcast. Okay, there was that quote and several hours of driving during which I had the chance to listen to almost a complete Conan novella in audiobook form (FYI, that book is on sale right now on Audible for less than $16. It’s a great pick-up for almost 18 hours of listening).

Before that, though, I had to get into President Obama’s mystery policy for Libya. I am genuinely flummoxed that not a soul seems to know exactly why were bombing Libya, what “winning” will look like, and who exactly is in charge of the whole affair. As I say toward the end of the first segment, we should not be relying on pure, blind luck to make sure our soldiers make it out of Libya alive. I’m also very surprised that the progressive left, who raised an unholy ruckus for 5 years of the Bush administration has barely uttered a peep about this expedition into murky Constitutional waters.
