Clearing the Browser Tabs – No, Really! I Am Sick Monday Edition
I hit the wall last night. Actually, the wall hit me, I think. I’ve been fighting off a little cold for a few days and, Sunday, I think my body negotiated a cease-fire. The illness got to sap my energy so that I was thinking at about half-speed while my body got to keep on going free from much beyond a very stuffed-up head. I’m not entirely sure that was a good deal for me, but, as Donald Rumsfeld once famously opined, you go to war with the Quisling immune system you have.
Wait…he didn’t say that? Well, I’m sure he said something close to that. Cut me some slack. I’m sick.
And now, links!
- The Battle for Wisconsin continued over the weekend as the Tea Parties engaged the Obama/Union machine. The progressives apparently didn’t get the Presidential Memo on civility in our public discourse nor did their allies in the blogosphere spend much time doing research before launching their predictable counterattack. Meanwhile, Andrew Breitbart rallied the troops on the ground and Dan Collins revealed how the Democrats tried to secure their union allies’ positions long before Governor Walker took office. Meanwhile, Pejman Yousefzadeh (via memeorandum) and Stacy McCain looked back at Scott Walker’s political career and note that this fight shouldn’t have surprised anyone, since he promised to tackle the benefit issue in his campaign. Finally, Jazz Shaw points us to a true teachers’ union success story, you know, to warm our hearts.
- One last note on public sector unions. This comparison by Chris Edwards at Cato between Virginia and Wisconsin might prove useful.
- Oh, and speaking of unions, if you’re looking for a big reason why we don’t currently have a free trade deal with Columbia, you don’t have to look any farther than American labor unions.
- What doesn’t kill Fox News only makes it stronger.
- Here’s a great image of a space launch taken from the International Space Station. In my perfect world, there would be a dozen such trails streaking into the heavens.
- Nathan Fillion said last week that he would buy the rights to Firefly if he hit the lottery, which caused a couple former show writers to tweet that they’d be on board with that as well. Now, there’s a grassroots effort to get Fillion the money to put that offer on the table. There are a lot of variables involved in making such a deal happen, even assuming the money was there, but I like that it’s happening and I hope it succeeds. I’d get behind it.
