Clearing the Browser Tabs – Belated Saturday Edition
I apologize that this post is late. I spent last night and this morning on a hard deadline for Smart Girl Nation (you are reading, yes?) and had to lay the blog off to the side. But I am done, at long last, which means that I can finally get today’s CtBT post to you.
And now, links!
- Government-run health care means the government’s desires always trump yours, as these Canadian parents have learned, to their horror.
- Old Line Elephant has another in his continuing series on Maryland’s Waste of the Week. Each week he runs a poll with several worthy candidates, so keep your eyes peeled and vote for your favorite state government boondoggle when its time!
- Apparently, if we deprive Planned Parenthood of taxpayer dollars, we will sentence untold millions of children to the horrors of Ramen Noodles.
- Why is it that progressives always seem to couple political action with physical intimidation? The good news is that while thug tactics seem to work in the short term, they never stick. The problem with rule by force is that you can never appear weak, or the people over whom you lord will turn on you, as this poll on public sector unions demonstrates.
- Veronique de Rugy on the Truth About Housing Prices. She has the right of it. Low housing prices are, right now, a good thing. Not only will they result in vacant houses filling faster than they are now, but folks like me will be able to buy a house far more quickly.
- Good news for would-be sci-fi writers here. On Tuesday, Analog Magazine will start accepting (and, according to its release, “preferring”) submissions electronically. That ought to get them more submissions, more quickly. I like it. Also, Analog is available for the Kindle
. I’ve seen how it’s set up. I like it a lot. More magazines need to get on board.
- I’d love to get this comic in a mid-sized framable print. We should all take its message to heart.
- I fully endorse this grassroots effort to get the Firefly franchise in the hands of someone who loves it and will do right by it.
