Clearing the Browser Tabs – CPAC Roundup Friday Edition
Well, Day One of CPAC is in the books and, all in all, it was relatively drama-free. No one rent their clothes and sat upon a heap of ashes nor were any gay conservatives consumed by fire from above. The real news was made where it should be made — at the speakers’ podium.
Blog Bash was a great success this year, thanks to the tireless work and supreme organizing skills of Tabitha Hale, Melissa Clouthier, and Ali Akbar. Many kudos to all of them for pulling off a great little shindig.
I’ll be back at it again today, hopefully with a more solid internet connection. If all goes well, there should be blog posts (both CPAC-related and not so much) and perhaps a video or two. I’m thinking of giving you a little video tour of Bloggers’ Row. If I can pull it off, it should be fun to watch.
And now, links!
- Stacy gets the lead-off with a couple celebrities who wandered into Bloggers’ Row.
- For the second year in a row, Dick Cheney made a surprise appearance. This time, he presented an award for former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. The Ron Paul contingent was not amused (via memeorandum).
- Donald Trump made a surprise appearance as well and laid down some hard truth for the Ron Paul contingent (via memeorandum). Perhaps that’s why they were so riled up when Cheney and Rumsfeld hit the stage shortly thereafter.
- John Boehner’s speech was pretty strong.
- Not all the events were about hard politics today. One of the many panels dealt with how to begin a career in Hollywood. John Nolte, one of the panelists, has an after-action report worth reading.
- Dana Loesch got a surprising interview from Richard Dreyfuss. Yes, that Richard Dreyfuss.
