Bloggers Meet the Cain Train
Herman Cain, who is exploring a run for the White House in 2012, dropped by the CPAC Bloggers’ Row yesterday afternoon to talk to us and take a few questions. I broke out the Flip Cam and got all of his remarks. Some of them are a little bit hard to hear because of ambient conversation and the speeches happening in the main hall. I think you can make out all of what he said.
Here are a couple or three things to listen for:
1) The first question is from a libertarian associate of mine who believes Cain a bailout supporter because he backed the original TARP program. Cain’s answer is a pretty firm rebuke of that position.
2) He addressed any potential health issues by telling us he is fully recovered from Stage 4 cancer. He also proclaimed himself healthier than some of the others who might run for President in the near future.
3) Peter (Da Tech Guy) got an interesting answer about Cain’s ability to raise volunteers and grassroots support. Duane Lester caught the one eye-popping statistic Cain gave us. If he has gotten that much action from people who want to volunteer, then I’m not nearly as concerned about his ability to raise money as I was.
Full disclosure: I like Herman Cain quite a bit. If the election were held today, I’d vote for him.

I would vote for him too and signed up on his site about 2 weeks ago. I think he has a major advantage over the competition because of one simple fact…he doesn't lie. Now, that could be a little naive because he hasn't held office yet where as some of the other favorites have…and thus, are professional politicians. (Which seems to mean that you must lie at some point, even though I don't agree w/ that.) I really hope he does run.
It's an easy call now, Jimmie. Cain's the only presumptive nominee who's floated an exploratory committee. He is not my favorite candidate, but if my favorite candidate doesn't run, I can get on board the Cain train. We can do a lot worse than Herman Cain, and I fear we might.
