And before 2008, not so much so, as the party leadership was setting up this situation without needing any help from him...in a sense, Obama had the poor timing to be the guy in charge of his party when the crisis reached a head. But that doesn't let him off the hook. Now, if he'd been doing something to stem the crisis for the last two years, I wouldn't blame him now...but clearly he's had other things on his mind.
