I originally had three or four topics lined up for each half of Episode 68 but, as so often happens, I got on a roll and had to leave a few of them on the table. I imagine we’ll be talking about the President’s tax deal for at least the rest of the year, and probably will into next month, when the Republicans take the helm of the House of Representatives. Already, the deal has caused absolute pandemonium among Democrats in Congress, which ought to keep the political discussions burning hot for a while. We ought to remember, though, that the deal will have real economic effects, whether it passes or not, and that aspect of the deal is far more important to me. I haven’t seen anyone in the blogosphere/pundit universe addressing the economics of the deal beyond James Pethokoukis. His analysis is sharp and exactly what I want to see more of.

I spent the second half of the show talking about the other half of the inevitable “death and taxes” duality. Well, okay, I didn’t actually talked about death, but unlife. Zombies, to be precise. I enjoy zombie stories and I was hoping that AMC’s “The Walking Dead” would be the story I’ve wanted to see for quite a while now. So far, it’s not been, which is disappointing, but it’s been close, which is worse than disappointing. I hope that Frank Darabont and whatever trained chimps he brings in to bang on the typewriters pick up the pace a bit and find us a few juicy mysteries. Also, more zombies, please.

Also, don’t forget to like the living daylights out of the show’s Facebook fan page. I know I need to add those nifty new “Like” buttons to the site, but I ahven’t had the time to figure out how to integrate them in the theme the way I want. Soon, though.
