The Delivery Presents – Putting the Social into Social Media and the Elections

Since I recorded Episode 63 on the day after the election, which also turned out to be the greatest Republican victory since the 1920s, I’d have been a very poor podcaster if I didn’t spend some time talking about what happened and what the future may hold. To help, I brought on filmmaker and political ad wunderkind Ladd Ehlinger to do the rundown. The piece we discussed on California and what the GOP can do to make itself into something other than the Party of Stodgy Old Frumps is right here.

I spent the second half on social media, specifically the new Hashable tool for Twitter and how I think it’s going to revolutionize how we use the service. I plan on returning to some of the ideas I talked about in this week’s show in a couple blog posts, especially the notion that social media doesn’t really work unless we spend most of our time with it talking about other people and what they’re doing.

I packed a lot into the hour and I hope that you can find a few useful things in each half.

SMP Mike and I also tested a new live platform at the Take That Media website. In fact, right now, you can click over there and hear a live music stream right from SMP Mike’s vast catalog of musical favorites. If UStream gets a little user-unfriendly for you (and we know it does more often than not), you can catch the live show in crisp clear audio, over there. The goal, when SMP Mike is done adding in all the goodies, will be to move the Tuesday live show from UStream to the TTM site, with full video, better-sounding audio, and a chat room that won’t require you to log into yet another site. That’s a few weeks off, but so far, so good!
