Liz Carter Outraises Halting Hank Johnson. She Could Use More!
Those of you who listen to The Delivery know about Liz Carter, who is running to unseat Hank “OH NOES! There goes Guam!” Johnson in Georgia’s 4th Congressional District. She is a rock-solid conservative who knows that the real answer to our contry’s economic woes involve prying the government off our backs and letting the creativity and energy of the people of this country propel us into the prosperity we sorely need.
Her campaign has always been a tough climb. Johnson is a Democratic darling and he’s dug into his office like an Alabama tick…in Georgia. His district formerly put Cynthia McKinney in office, so they’re used to having barking mad members of Congress. Johnson has refused to stand against Carter in any sort of debate or other public appearance in a display of arrogance so rank that even he can’t quite deny it. He believes this seat belongs to him and he’s not about to let some slip of a woman take it away from him.
There is good news, though. Carter’s common sense is getting through. Her campaign has raised twice as much money as Johnson’s thus far in October and she has more cash on hand. Now, he surely has a big cash advantage thanks to the massive piles of cash he gets from his union and lawyer friends on whom he’s bestowed even larger piles of taxpayer money over the years. That’s pushed him out to a considerable lead that, I admit, appears insurmountable.
But this is shaping up to be an exceptional election and Liz Carter is an exceptional person who will be a member of Congress of whom you can be proud, no matter where you live. She could use whatever help you’re able to give her, whether it comes in the form of a donation or time spent as a campaign volunteer. Hank Johnson has all but disappeared from the scene. Just days before the election he is closing down operations, and refuses to release or comment on his campaigns internal polling. Word on the street is that Liz may pull a huge upset, and it will be a victory for voters pulling the wagon for a change.
