The Delivery Presents – I’m No Tool of Big Printer Ink!
Episode 58 is unique in the history of The Delivery (at least so far). It marks the first time I’ve dedicated the entire show to political subjects. I blame Republicans, and their Pledge to America for that. I had intended to spend part of one segment on it, but it’s such a sprawling document that it required almost the full show to give it a fair and reasonably comprehensive review.
Actually, what surprised me about the Pledge was the miserable state of its presentation. The structure of the document itself — its size, composition, how it was rolled out to the public, and how it forces us all to bow to the dictates of Big Printer Ink — makes up the bulk of the first half. The whole second half I dedicated to the substance of the Pledge itself, the real actions the GOP proposes to take if they win Congress, once I was able to sift them out of all the useless filler.
There are also a couple amusing items at the top of the show about President Obama’s advice to young journalists and Nancy Pelosi’s sense of time just to warm things up before I got into the meat of the podcast.
And, before I go, please don’t forget that the Smart Girl Summit kicks off on September 30th in Alexandria, VA. If you can go, you should, if only to meet a good bunch of people and to attend the panel on humor in politics I’m moderating on Friday. But if you can’t, perhaps you’d considering donating to my cause.
