What I think a lot of replay advocates overlook is that it hasn’t taken subjectivity out of the game. Football games are longer now and subject to just as much controversy, thanks to the blurring of the meaning of “incontrovertible visual evidence”. I can’t tell you how many games I’ve seen where an official overturned a call on the field while at the same time the announcers disagreed with each other, even though all three of them had access to the same replays. That’s not what “incontrovertible” means. And it it happened in football, it will happen in baseball, too.
Besides, Hitler would probably like instant replay and we don’t want to be like Hitler, do we?
