I decided to run the whole show solo this week, which means that Episode 40 is freewheeling and just a little bit ranty. I do think I got the balance between bloviation and entertainment balanced well enough, though. The chatroom folks seemed to like how it came off.
I think we’ve come up with a good answer to the audio level problems caused by running the live webcam while recording on skype at the same time. Mike’s running a second computer to pull down the audio feed and it seems to have brought us very nearly to the same place we would have been were there no webcast at all.
First half touches on Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey, a guy who is fast becoming a superhero to uslimited government types. He’s actually going head to head with the various stinking rich media-allied interest groups like the government employees’ unions and winning. I closed the half wondering why we have a free press if they refuse to do what we require of them.
The second half is, surprisingly, all about the recently-departed television show Lost. If you haven’t seen the show, the discussion will still be relevant, I believe. Heck, I hadn’t seen the show either. What interested me more than the show is how the show was advertised by ABC compared to what it really ended up being. Also, I got to use Babylon 5 as a pole star for good story arc television, which pleased me to no end.
Don’t forget, The Delivery Book Club selection is Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett. Melissa Clouther will be joining me mid next month to discuss the book (she’s reading it for the first time) and you’ll have a chance to participate in the chatroom as we’re recording the show! The Delivery - Episode 40
