You Know, Robert, Sometimes I Regret that You Can Run Your Mouth, Too.
I can see how Robert Gibbs would find the First Amendment regrettable. When your job is to lie to 300 million Americans ever day, you probably wouldn’t want them to freely talk back. That doesn’t make for much job security.
Gibbs: “You’ve got to have a license to drive a car in this country but regrettably you can get on television and say anything.”
I’m sure I could fill up a couple paragraphs explaining the distinction between a right and a state-granted privilege, but you likely already know that. Gibbs, on the other hand, comes from the political school of thought that considers all your inalienable rights as privileges, granted by people just like him. The distinction is entirely lost on him and his boss.
I do regret that Robert Gibbs gets to stand up in front of the American people and stumblebum his way through yet another embarassing administration position. I wish he’d shut up, too. The difference between us, though, is that I’m not willing to use the coercive power of government to make him.

Category: Free Speech (?), Progressives

What is amazing to me is not all that long ago, these same people were howling about Booshco and were in front of the cameras every minute. Of course they believed they have free speech rights and they do. All anyone on the right called for was for them to act responsibly, but not question why they are allowed to speak in the first place. Truly amazing….
Not understanding your meaning of 'sometimes' in the title.
