I Sing the Birds Cinematic

There is a right way and a wrong way to look at birds.

This is the wrong way.

Apparently, this Godawful waste of celluloid has become a minor cult hit, for reasons I can not fathom. I know from good cult movies and this one doesn’t come close to qualifying. It has no redeeming feature, not even its cosmic-level awfulness. Good camp has something in it that works, even if it’s just one thing. In “Army of Darkness”, it’s the snappy one-liners and Bruce Campbell’s very skilled overacting. In “Howard the Duck” it’s, well, the duck. I can’t find a single thing in this trailer worth watching again. It’s just crap.

This, on the other hand, is a little slice of genius.

If you liked that, and I hope you did, then you’ll also like this TED talk video featuring the composer. He briefly explains the genesis of the piece and performs an expanded version of the song with a live chamber group. It’s quite good.
