It’s Not That They’re Flacks for the Administration…

I may have to start a category under “Media Bias” just for the various media companies owned by General Electric, which, by some happy coincidence, managed to pay no US taxes this past year despite receiving a $140 billion gift from the administration.

That may be coincidence, but two incidents this week from GE-paid reporters certainly weren’t. The first involved Norah O’Donnell, who donned her safari suit and pith helmet, and ventured forth from her all-white enclave at MS-NBC to search a Washington, DC Tea Party rally for the storied Tea Party Racist. I guess she figured the easiest way to find a racist was to corral the first black man she could find and ask him, essentially, if he’d been lynched yet. The answer she got was probably not what she expected.

Just a couple days later, MS-NBC news reader Alex Witt decided to jump in the middle of her own interview wherein Jay Barbree, an NBC reporter who has covered every manned space launch criticized the President’s duplicity toward NASA. Witt immediately switched from objective reporter facilitating an interview to defender of the administration.

Look, if MS-NBC wants to do everything it can to help the President succeed, as Chris Matthews has claimed he wants, then it should do so openly. At least then, we’ll understand that the GE bailout was a paycheck for a flack job well-done.

UPDATE: The Corleones? Well, maybe…
