Conservative Bloggers Answer George Thorogood’s Question, “Who Do You Love?”
Every one in a while John Hawkins polls a bunch of conservative bloggers about an issue of the day. I find his polls interesting because the folks he picks are a mix of established, popular bloggers along with folks on various points of the blogospheric “long tail”. As one of the folks out on the tip of the tail, I appreciate that he values my opinion as highly as he does someone who actually writes for a living.
His most recent poll is one I’ve not seen done before. He asked a number of us to rank our like or dislike of several popular figures in right-wing politics (politicians, columnists, and bloggers). The list of figures is broad and more than a bit eclectic and the results are, I think, interesting. If nothing else, it shows that the conservative blogosphere appreciates unflinching conservatives who wear their love of country on their sleeves. We also know who their friends are, even if said friends don’t always agree with them.
Here’s the list of “most popular” figures. The total is the number of “like” and “strongly like” votes and the upper limit is 80:
10) Mark Levin (69)
9) George W. Bush (71)
Michele Bachmann (72)
7) Dick Cheney (73)
4) Paul Ryan (74)
4) Sarah Palin (74)
4) Rush Limbaugh (74)
2) Marco Rubio (76)
2) Michelle Malkin (76)
1) Thomas Sowell (80)
Check out the rest of the poll and let me know if there’s anything there you found particularly interesting. I’ll give you one morsel that intrigued me: Dick Cheney got twice as many “strongly like” votes as George W. Bush.
