Nancy Pelosi, Evil Overlord
Nancy Pelosi is out of hand and we, the American people, need to bring her back in hand. It is one thing to use your majority to shove through unpopular legislation. Indeed, the results of the last two elections mean that she can wield her majority power any way she sees fit, consistent with the laws of the land. She is welcome to cram Obamacare down our throats, even though the vast majority of us do not want it and even though we have made our wishes very clear to her. The only penalty she will face from that is a resounding and historic defeat in this November’s elections.
However, it is quite another thing to directly violate the Constitution of the United States to get that unpopular legislation past unwavering bipartisan opposition. Nancy Pelosi has gone past arrogance straight into megalomania. Hyperbole?
Nay.
“My biggest fight has been between those who wanted to do something incremental and those who wanted to do something comprehensive,” Pelosi said, according to an account by Washington Post reform advocate Ezra Klein. “We won that fight, and once we kick through this door, there’ll be more legislation to follow.”
Pelosi said passing the bill would allow Dems to undertake a “debate” with Republicans over “what is the balanced role that government should have.”
“We have to take it to the American people, to say, this is the choice that you have,” she said. “This is the vision that they have for your health and well being, and this is the vision that we have.”
Folks, if that’s not a delusion of grandeur, then I’ve never seen one. Let’s be crystal clear about this. Nancy Pelosi’s definition of “choice” is taking what she gives you, when she gives it to you, how she chooses to give it to you. You are only allowed to be part of the “choice” after you have no actual choice and her “vision” consists of over 2,000 pages of legislation that weigh enough to kill you if she dropped it onto your head from a three-story building.
Pelosi’s plans are so ridiculously grandiose that Evil Overlords everywhere are taking notes. After all, Dr. Evil only threatened to destroy a few cities unless he got $100 billion. Pelosi is holding an entire country hostage unless we put trillions of dollars under her control.
If only we could placate her with a few sharks with fricking laser beams attached to their heads.
UPDATE: Steny Hoyer is doing a darned good job as Number Two, isn’t he? That pretty much leaves Harry Reid as Frau Farbissina and Barack Obama as Mr. Bigglesworth (seriously, what does he do but purr and meow once in a while?).
