I Believe We Call This A Sucker’s Deal
Perhaps I’m not smart enough to be President, but the logic here escapes me.
In an effort to build support for Democratic health care reform legislation, President Obama will announce support later today for efforts to crack down on fraud in Medicare and Medicaid, among other government programs, one of the few areas of bipartisan consensus during last month’s health care reform summit…
White House officials say in 2009 more than $54 billion in improper payments were made through Medicare and Medicaid.
In other words, we’re supposed to support the President’s efforts to build a gigantic government-run health care system because he’s going to make efforts to end the staggering amount of fraud in an already existing gigantic government-run health care system.
No promises or anything. He’ll just give it the old college try, you know, like he did back in the foggy past of his college days.
Well, sure. Let’s give that a try. I mean, what are the chances that he’ll fail spectacularly leaving us with two fraud-riddled, gigantic government-run health care systems. I mean, the federal government has a wonderful track record of rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse and running an honest game, right?
