Oh Yeah, The Left’s Attempt at a Tea Party Movement Can Only End In Hilarity

For all the opprobrium the left has heaped upon the Tea Party movement, including the disgusting “teabagger” smear, I can’t help but notice that when it needed to rachet up the sense of urgency, they’re running to form their own “tea parties” (via Ace, on whom the irony of the name of this new progressive effort is not lost).

According to a press release from AfterDowningStreet.org: “On February 17th, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) will be joined by CODEPINK, AfterDowningStreet, Democrats.com, the California Nurses Assn./National Nurses United, and United for Peace and Justice in holding brownbag vigils outside (or inside) at least 36 Congress members’ offices.

Brownbaggers are demanding commitments to vote against more money for war. Slogans on their posters include: “Healthcare NOT Warfare,” “Corporations out of Politics,” “Bailout Main Street not Wall Street” and “Brownbaggers not Teabaggers.”

It’s telling that this “brownbag” effort copies all of the stereotypes the left has of the Tea Parties with none of the grassroots energy nor the principles that have made it an astoundingly effective movement. Instead, the left have gathered their corporate-finances grievance groups together to whine for more Big Daddy Government, more out of control spending, and more meddling in your life.

At least they didn’t go the full parody route and order pitchforks and torches.

Wait…what? Well, I guess they did hit all the stereotypes, then.
