I Think Prince’s Football Song is Endearing!
I’m finding it difficult to make fun of Prince for this story. Yes, his “fight song” is absolutely horrible. It sounds like he woke up Wendy and Lisa after an all-night bender and recorded it in a broom closet with a $30 Casio keyboard. The lyrics are confusing where they aren’t hackneyed, and the song certainly doesn’t inspire much football fury.
But for goodness’ sake, at least the guy tried and I find his attempt endearing. He’s obviously a new football fan caught up in the excitement of rooting for a good team that’s on a tear, and his enthusiasm took the form you’d expect out of a musician.
Hey, at least it wasn’t the Super Bowl Shuffle or “Silver and Black Attack”. You Bears and Raiders fans have no room to laugh at Prince. None.
