Maligned Massachusetts Cops Finally Get Some Payback

| January 17, 2010 | Comments (0)

You may recall how the President reflexively trashed the officers of the Cambridge Police Department this past summer when one of its officers ran afoul of a Presidential BFF. Well today, the President is learning a valuable lesson: be careful who you trash-talk because you may need them to save your bacon in the future.

Members of our Association have inquired and requested that we endorse Scott Brown in the upcoming election against Martha Coakley.

Ms. Coakley along with some of her campaign workers have talked publicly about how her husband is a retired Cambridge Police Officer, giving appearances that she is being endorsed by the Cambridge Police. This may be an innocent insinuation but most do take this as our giving her our support and endorsement.

Yesterday, the CPPOA Executive Board voted to endorse State Senator Scott Brown in the upcoming election for US Senate. In an 11 to 2 vote, the Executive Board voted overwhelmingly in favor of the endorsement.

Perhaps Martha Coakley shouldn’t have assumed that her husband’s former compatriots would take kindly to being used as political tools twice in the same year. Cops tend to be ever the teensiest bit sensitive about being used do have effective ways of getting more immediate payback.
