This Couldn’t Have Happened to a More Deserving Bunch of Evil Tyrants
Slowly, the cracks in Tehran’s tyrannical government widen.
A veteran Iranian diplomat based in Norway has resigned his post, denounced his government and urged colleagues around the world to do the same after the regime’s brutal suppression of huge opposition demonstrations last month.
Mohammed-Reza Heydari, Iran’s consul in Oslo, is the first Iranian diplomat to publicly quit and condemn the regime. He revealed that it sought to lure him back to Tehran after rumours of his defection surfaced last week. At the time, the Iranian Foreign Ministry insisted that the rumours were baseless.
Heydari said his decision to resign came after the brutal killing of a dozen protesters during the December 27th demonstrations. He is the first diplomat to publicly bolt from Mad Mahmoud and the Mullahs, but there could be more…many more. Al-Arabiya television recently reported that as many as 27 others may have resigned quietly. It is likely that some of them, emboldened by veteran diplomat’s courage, will follow his lead and publicly call out the tyrants in Tehran
This is a big deal and I hope it gets greater coverage. Let’s hope our State Department is on this and is doing everything it can to give more Iranians cover to ditch their brutal masters.
