The White House Wishes Us All A Mao-rry Christmas!
Let’s play a little “what if” game this evening.
What if George W. Bush had commissioned an outré artist to do some holiday decorating at the White House and that artist had hung an Augusto Pinochet ornament?
You know the answer to that, of course. The ornament would have come off the tree in a hot second and the White House would have issued a small truckload of apologies. Certainly, the MSM would not have let him get away with the lame excuse that he didn’t know it was there. Heck, the media would still be castigating him tonight.
They’d be exactly right to do so, by the way. There’s no place for a mass murderer on any Christmas Tree in this country, much less one in the White House.
Of course, that assumes that you believe that mass murder is wrong even if it is in the service of a political philosophy that suffuses your entire being.
