And Maybe They’ll Sing “Hosanna” and Wave Palm Fronds, Too!
It looks like a couple people were hitting the bowl o’Christmas cheer a day early over getting the health care beast through the Senate.
“This is a happy day. (Senate Republican Leader) Mitch McConnell said on the floor that we’re going to go home and hear our constituents rail against this bill. I don’t believe that. I believe that the negativity that Leader McConnell and others have continually displayed on the floor has peaked, and now when people learn what’s actually in the bill—and all the good it does—it is going to become more and more popular because it is good for America, good for the American people, and a true symbol of what we can do if we all pull together,” said Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer.
On the floor before the vote, Majority Leader Harry Reid said, “We’re going to hear an earful, but it’s going to be an earful of wonderment and happiness that people waited for for a long time.”
What I want to know is who replaced Harry Reid with Principal Skinner. I haven’t heard a comeback quite that lame since the dreaded “I know you are, but what am I” debates I endured in the fourth grade.
If Reid and Schumer really, honestly believe in their heart of hearts that they’ll be greeted with “wonderment and happiness”, then they have bigger problems their totalitarian political ambitions. They’re living in a world created entirely by their ginormous egos and progressive delusions. I very much hope that someone gets a picture or two of their faces when they realize that the palm fronds they imagine the crowds will be waving at them turn out to be torches and pitchforks.
UPDATE: Ace also makes an interesting point about the Schumer quote.

"and now when people learn what’s actually in the bill—and all the good it does—it is going to become more and more popular"
And that's why they had to compile it largely in secret for all these months, right? That's why they wouldn't even allow the other senators to read it? Couldn't release a few sections here and there so all of America could enjoy the good news? What, because they love us and wanted it to be a big surprise?
That response is way worse than "I know you are, but what am I?" Because even a forth grader knows its gonna be bad when you are trying to put a positive spin on say, a trip to the dentist…or to get their shots. This is worse because this moron is speaking to a nation of adults as if we were a bunch of children. And he thinks he is getting away with it.
