Harry Reid finally got his 60th vote for his government-run health care bill late last night, which means that unless something changes drastically in the House of Representatives, we’re all in for a world of hurt the likes of which we’ve never seen.
Ben Nelson, the Democrat who was gumming up the works finally found a bribe amount he liked and has agreed to support the bill. The price was relatively cheap. Essentially, American taxpayers will pay Nebraska’s Medicare bills forever as well as abortions in a considerable number of states (via memeorandum). Since the Democrat’s health care “reforms” will drive up medicare costs and put an immense financial burden on the states, Nelson’s bribe is going to be worth billions of dollars — even tens of billions of dollars — as the years go on. Remember, next year when your state is cutting essential services and jacking up taxes to cover the new costs of Obamacare, that Nebraska won’t be feeling any of that pain.
In other words, Ben Nelson gets a big, fat, McCain-Feingold exempt bribe for his re-election campaign and more control of your life. You get a bigger federal and state tax bill, more expensive health care, longer waiting lines for medical treatments, and rationing.
Such a deal for you, huh?
