I’m Waiving My “Don’t Watch Remakes” Policy in this Case

| December 17, 2009 | Comments (3)

Regular readers, and those of you who are friends of mine, well know my stance on remaking older movies. In short, it shouldn’t be done because it usually ends in box office shame.

However, I’m willing to allow an exception in the case of Clash of the Titans. I liked the original Harry Hamlin joint (yes, even the flying metal owl). It was a great sword and sandals action movie, with effects by the legendary Ray Harryhausen at perhaps the very top of his game. The rising of the Kraken still ranks as one of the best movie scenes of my youth. I was not looking forward to the remake.

Then I saw this. Holy. Freaking. Crapweasel.

  1. TechAskew says:

I totally agree. This looks like one of those rare remakes worthy of a watch!

  2. You just made my hubby so happy. He hadn't heard about this yet!

  3. I was peeved when I heard this was being remade (is nothing sacred!)…even though I'm a fan of Sam Worthington.

However, this has a super good chance of not totally stinking.

Oh…at my house…"time to feed the Kraken" will continue to mean, that I'm hungry, even though the obscure pop culture reference will no longer be lost on others.
