From Jonah Goldberg, I see that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took a few seconds to advance the cause of bipartisanship today:
“When this body was on the verge of guaranteeing equal civil rights to everyone regardless of the color of their skin, some senators resorted to the same filibuster threats that we hear today.”
It’s a shame Robert Byrd wasn’t there to take a bow for holding down 14 hours and 13 minutes of that Democratic filibuster all by himself. An accomplishment like that ought to be recognized, or at least remembered by the Democratic leadership, don’t you think?
I mean, as long as they’re slinging mud around and all.
