Your Goaltending Stinks, So Here’s A Head Wound!
I saw this last night while watching the Capitals game (which wasn’t without a hard moment to watch, either), and am not at all sure how Keith Ballard’s own teammates didn’t pummel him once their brains got finished saying “Did I just see what I think I saw?”.
Ballard’s victim, his own goaltender Tomas Vokoun, is okay, though he’s pretty banged up and will be out of action a little while.
Here’s the video. If you don’t know what happened (and haven’t clicked the links to find out), keep your eyes on Ballard as he skates into frame from the right immediately after the goal. Oh, and even though there’s no blood, it’s a pretty wicked thing so see, so be warned.
I understand that guys get upset, but…that was infantile. I can’t imagine his team would let him skate for a game or two, or let Vokoun anywhere near him for a couple weeks.
