The Little Honduras That Could
Defying a boycott plea by deposed President Manuel Zelaya, Hondurans flocked to the polls in unexpectedly large numbers Sunday to hand a convincing victory to Porfirio Pepe Lobo Sosa of the opposition National Party.
The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) at 9:20 p.m. EST gave Mr. Lobo, 61, 315,963 votes (52.7 percent to 206,707 (34.4 percent) for Elvin Santos, 46, of Mr. Zelaya’s Liberal Party.
In the 2005 election, Mr. Lobo narrowly lost to Mr. Zelaya, 49.9 percent to 46.4 percent. The turnout then was 55.4 percent. On Sunday, the TSE predicted that the turnout would exceed 60 percent of the 4.6 million registered voters and perhaps reach 70 percent, which is seen as a rebuke of Mr. Zelaya’s attempt to deprive the newly elected president of legitimacy through a boycott.
Honduras is doing the right thing despite the threats from a handful of jerkwater tyrants and Barack Obama’s clueless, selfish meddling. The Hondurans have a democracy to run, an economy to build into something greater than a mud-based third-world disaster, and real allies to find. They can’t wait for us to decide whether we approve of their enforcing their own constitutional laws. Our dithering is costing them dearly. If our President can’t figure out whether Honduras would make a better friend than Hugo Freaking Chavez and the slimy Castro Killers, then Honduras is far better off getting itself in order and finding some honest friends.
Which seems to be exactly what it’s doing.

After reading your comments, i shook my head slowly. Words, words, empty words. Forgive me, but you must live in a very small room. Have you actually seen how the great majority of people live in that country? Replying to your percentages, etc., you may find the following instructive:

"Just the place for a Snark!" the Bellman cried,
As he landed his crew with care;
Supporting each man on the top of the tide
By a finger entwined in his hair.
"Just the place for a Snark! I have said it twice:
That alone should encourage the crew.
Just the place for a Snark! I have said it thrice:
What i tell you three times is true."
