Every holiday ought to have its entertainment traditions, and I think it’s time we added a new one to Thanksgiving. Sure, we have football, but what of the holiday specials? Christmas has all the Rankin/Bass specials (Frosty the Snowman, The Year Without A Santa Claus, etc.) and there’s always the Grinch. But what does Thanksgiving, a holiday I argued just this week is every bit as important as Christmas, have?
Well, I submit that the “Turkeys Away” episode of WKRP in Cinncinati should be a Thanksgiving tradition. It has turkeys, invokes the Almighty, and things for which we can all be thankful and it’s good, clean entertainment in a time when that’s not always easy to come by.
And, thanks to Hulu, we can get the episode, streamed right to our computers. So here you go. Enjoy your new tradition.
On the other hand, only the very foolish thought these turkeys could ever fly.
UPDATE: The tradition seems to be off to a good start this year with Don Surber, Glenn Reynolds, and Ed Driscoll doing their part.
