Reason TV does some pretty good work. This video is a good quick look at why the easy “drug companies are shameless profiteers” slogan isn’t particularly accurate and what punishing drug companies for making money will do to the production of new drugs.

One Response to “Innovation? New Drugs? Nah…We Can Cope.”

I’m predicting upscale hospitals for cancer and other treatments off-shore in the next 20 years for the rich folk to get quality care as compared to the rest of us schmucks who get ‘death panels’.

Speaking of death panels, one liberal in my home town called me a liar because there is no mention of the words, ‘death panels’ in any of the bills. Seems he doesn’t understand that the ‘panels’ that are created will have life or death say in your treatment, so the term ‘death’ is very appropriate.

Speaking of quality health care, I am starting to compare nationalized health care with my state’s Labor and Industry Department which covers workers injured on the job. There is absolutely no one I know who is happy with the care L&I gives. People take years before they get their needed knee/shoulder surgeries and by then, they are almost crippled and the surgeries don’t give them complete health. The best time for the surgeries and the fixes are right after the initial swelling dies down and not years later. On top of that, bone doctors are not getting payments and L&I is avoiding okaying neeeded surgeries and fixes. It doesn’t take much to compare this department to the future US Insurance Department or ‘death panels’ to be more precise.
