The 2009 Weblog Awards hosted by Kevin Aylward of Wizbang are taking nominations for this years competition. Long-time readers of the blog may remember that I’ve been a finalist four times since 2004. Though I’ve never won (actually, I’ve never finished higher than fifth place), I’ve enjoyed being part of the contest and I’ve always found a couple new blogs to read.
I’m not necessarily stumping for a blogging nomination this year, however I do think it’s worth your time to find a few worth blogs and put them forward. The big categories (Best Blog, Best Individual Blogger, Best Conservative and Liberal Blog, among others) are going to be packed, but there will be a few categories where your favorite underrated blog can have a very good chance of winning. Being a finalist is good exposure, especially for blogs you think aren’t getting the publicity they should.
Kevin has also opened up a few categories that aren’t strictly for blogs as well. The “Best Twitterer” and “Best Podcast” categories are new so far as I know and not swamped with nominees. You can find several podcasts worthy of an award right here, and I’d take it as a favor if you nominated one or two of them.
The Technorati categories ought to be very competitive as well. If you are wondering where to find a blogs Technorati Authority, you can get instructions for that in the nomination post or look for a Technorati button on the main page of the blog. I have one, and so do plenty of other bloggers.
Nominations are open until the night of November 20, 2009 so get a move on and nominate a good blog, your favorite podcast, or a Twitterer you like.
