TD_CoverArt_011Episode 11 of The Delivery is sitting right here for the taking. As usual, you can listen to it here, download it directly here, or pluck it from iTunes like the fine, ripe berry of commentary it is.

SuperMegaProducer Mike has served up another gem of a graphic. Before you ask, that really is Big Bird in the street. I don’t know who is squatting over him like a crime scene technician (unless, perhaps, it’s a crime scene technician). I think it’s funny, which makes three straight weeks that SMP Mike has made me laugh with the show graphic.

The mid-show song is…nothing! We’ve made some business changes at Take That Radio, which means we have to rejigger how we handle music licensing for the shows. So, until that happens, I can only go with songs where I have express permission from the rights-holders. Music may come back, but I can’t tell you for sure when or if that’ll happen. It depends on how expensive it becomes and how much revenue we can build.

However, if you are a musician and are willing to give me carte-blanche to use your music, just drop me a line so I can find out from our new TTR President what I need to use it. I prefer music in my shows to make a nice clean break between the two show halves, but if I don’t have it, well, we’ll come up with something I’m sure you’ll like as well. Trust me on that. I won’t make a radio show I wouldn’t listen to myself!

UPDATE: My former AIP editor and good friend, Catherine Favazza, just pointed out to me that Episode 11 came out on 11/11. Any Kabbalists want to tackle this one? Madonna? Anybody? Isn’t there some sort of Nostradamus Quatrain that can be referred to here?

  2. Hey Jimmie,

Hope you are still going to like me after this note…LOL

I agree that this health care plan may not be the best option for our country, but to say that it has problems and it doesn’t work in England or Canada, is gross overstatement of the obvious. No one is professing that this health care plan is flawless, but let’s be real…..people are already dying. People are already unable to get pain meds, or other medication they need and we are still using the same health care system. So, it would seem that the very reasons some keep using as reasons we should not support the NEW plan would also serve to support the overhaul of the existing plan. I, for one, am recovering from a back injury suffered in September which I had to discontinue medical treatment for because I had no money for doctor visits or pain meds….OUCH!!!!

I really do not understand what it is about this country that we seem to be so comfortable (for lack of a better word) with what we have, and to wallow in our misery as if we need something to constantly whine about. I wonder if we REALLY want to fix our country, or if it is so much easier and more entertaining to “talk” about what needs to be done and/or what will or will not work in the “hypothetical”. Fact of the matter is that we can talk about how government health care is bad for insurance policy holders all we want, but the simple truth is that an alarming number of people (myself included) have no insurance plan, and cannot afford one. What happens to us? Oh yeah, Medicaid Medicare….yeah, I forgot about those programs, most of which many do not qualify for.

We keep arguing about what it is going to cost, and who it is going to affect, and how many people are going to die and “oh it is so terrible!!!”. Yet, we continue in the current plan that obviously is NOT WORKING! One thing we fail to look at in these conversations is that Americans are GREEDY! That’s right….GREEDY! Let’s call a spade a spade. Let’s get past saying, “We need to identify the problems and see what to do about those….”

AMERICANS ARE GREEDY!!!! THERE. PROBLEM IDENTIFIED!

NOW, what do we do about that? What do we do to alleviate the greed that has permeated every fiber of our economic being, and stifles any progress with regard to repairing our healthcare system and our economy in general? we can point fingers all we want, but the fact remains that the reason our economy is in the shape it is in at this moment is that we are a greedy, selfish nation that should change its name from the UNITED states of America to the STATES of America, as we are in no way, shape or form UNITED anymore. We don’t care about each other the way we used to in any way.

Everything is about me me me, now. What can I get? You offended ME! You looked at ME! You touched ME! You gave ME an uninvited comment, etc., etc., etc. who cares if not ALL of us can afford healthcare as long as I get what I need? Why should I pay higher taxes so that YOU can have an opportunity as well? How does that benefit ME? It really makes me sad how selfish and divided we are; how black and white things are. No compromise. No compassion. No caring. NOTHING! Yet, we boast that we are the “greatest” nation on the planet?

i’m gonna climb back down off of my soapbox, but not before asking, when do we put the UNITED back in our name, come together, and make this thing work for ALL of us? NOT just the republicans. NOT just the democrats. ALL OF US! Yes, there should always be opposing views, but the point of having two sides is for them to meet in the middle somewhere and work it out! Not, sit in endless debates about who did this and who did that like school kids on a playground arguing over whose turn it is. Let’s face it, people, the game is in triple overtime and the score is STILL tied at 0-0. It is time we grow up and play the game and SCORE one for the home team. Last I checked there is STILL no ‘I’ in team….. Please make no mistake that I am proud to be an American. But being proud does not mean that I agree with everything that goes on here OR that I have to agree. THAT is what freedom is. In part, it is the ability to have different ideals and STILL be considered a great American. I love this country and so wish to see her prosper and live up to her claim to be the greatest nation on the planet.

On a more positive note, as far as I am concerned, you can use Mr. Groove band’s music or anything else I produce as often as you like. I am honored (as we all are) that you would even consider airing our music on your show, and we have no problem at all with your continuing to do so, should you choose to. Still diggin’ the show, man!! I am so very thankful that you are not a Sean Hannity, or a rush Limbaugh, or that Austin dude (I forget his name…). I like that you state your opinions or views without the sanctimony and self-righteousness they seem to exude. Thank you for that, and keep up the good work, my friend…. till next week, peace and blessings… DJ

  5. Mike says:

Hey Jimmy, feel free to use any of my stuff you might wish to. Just look up “Belmont Playboys” on the iTMS. Or if you like, I can e-mail you some MP3s. Don’t bother with Amazon; last I looked, our last CD was going for sixty damn dollars on there, and on eBay it was a hundred and seventy — not a penny of which I ever see, needless to say. Ahh, the music biz.

  6. Jimmie says:

Mike, thank you for that. I’m behind a while on getting to comments (which I know is a bad habit). We’re still working out how, when, and even if we do music in the shows, but I’d like to have something ready if it looks like we want it.
