The Good News About that Sex Tape? It’s Carrie Prejean, Not Nancy Pelosi.
Stop the presses, call all the anchors in from vacation, and cancel prime time, folks. There’s big news afoot. The muckraking website TMZ has allegedly unearthed a Carrie Prejean sex video.
Now, if you’re one of the bazillions of people who don’t know who Carrie Prejean is and couldn’t care less about the presence of a Carrie Prejean sex video, you’re probably wondering why this is news and why I’m writing about it.
The simplest answer is that Carrie Prejean, whose only claim to fame is that she was a Miss America contestant, made the mistake of saying that she opposed changing the definition of marriage to include gay couples. Further, she voiced that opinion out in public where people could hear it. Such an opinion, of course, can only be safely held by the President of the United States, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Majority Leader of the Senate. I suppose only those three prominent Democrats have a sufficient coating of compassion and good intentions necessary to keep such an opinion without it shriveling their hearts to a blackened cinder.
Since Carrie Prejean is not the Obamessiah, Nancy Pelosi, or Harry Reid, she must be labeled a gay-hating conservative and completely destroyed.
The lesson here is that if you have even the slightest tendency toward conservative thinking, you’re an obvious target for personal destruction by the vicious harpies of the left, especially if you’re an attractive woman. If you swing left, though, you can believe whatever you want and you’ll get a pass, pretty much forever.
I feel sorry for Carrie Prejean. It’s not right that every mistake she’s ever made in her life should become immediate public knowledge. It’s not right that she should now become an unwilling emblem of the sort of McCarthyism the left used to deplore.
On the other hand, thank goodness for left-wing intellectual inconsistency. It’s the only thing that’s saved us from the menace of a Nancy Pelosi Sex Tape.

Welcome back, Jimmie! Like Miss Prejean in her video, it seems you've decided to take up the onanistic habit of blogging again.

CARRIE PREJEAN SEX TAPE? / CARRIE PREJEAN SEX VIDEO?
Nice posting, Jimmie!
Glad you came back.
You are to clever to stay in your pj's in the basement.
Welcome back, sir! When I saw your name at Memeorandom, I hopped over here to witness the resurrection for myself. I read your goodbye post (forget when that was) and was sad. But here you are!
I almost don't know who this young lady is, since we don't have a TV and only use the radio to play CDs. However, we do subscribe to some magazines (NR and First Things) so I *do* actually know her name and vaguely about her great sin.
Now that I'm past the age of finding such videos ummm…titillating, I'll skip that part. Besides, at the the very least, this poor woman deserves my avoidance.
Now I have to go see if we never got around to taking you off the blog roll. If we did, that will be amended.
I see a mention of swine flu in the comments. Our twenty-something son, living near VA Tech, just called on his way to the ER. Sounds like swine flu. And he's one of the ones they worry about: he has an underlying asthmatic condition…
Anyhow, good to see you here again.
Oh, just noticed your books listing. I have one to recommend. Just found out about it this week.
I don't know if you followed the controversy at Yale University Press, where a woman writing a book about the MoToons was told (after the book was done) that she had to remove *all* the cartoon illustrations from the book. A tome about the bloody things but no pictures allowed?
So anyway, this ethics professor at Duke has just published a picture book with every darn one of them included plus a batch of more famous renderings of the Prophet done thru the ages:
[it]has thirty one “high-quality, full-color images of Muhammed. Complete with captions, the images span the 12th through 21st centuries, and include paintings by Muslim artists working in the Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal empires, as well as paintings and drawings by William Blake, Gustave Dore, and Salvador Dali.
Here's my post on it, which I'm recommending bec. it has a link to the book. When you cllck on the Amazon link, it will say that it's not available. However, I talked to the professor and there are 4,000 of them which he will mail as soon as Amazon sends the notice. I'm flogging this one to you not only because we've been covering the MoToons for so long now, but because Amazon is being annoyingly P.C. They appear to be afraid to admit they have the book even though they've listed it on the site. Buncha weenies. If we were still on the Council, I'd be putting this in for my weekly submission:
The Motoons Have a Publisher. Riots to Follow.
Gosh, it's good to have you back! Glad you got your mojo back.

Wrong. The lesson here is people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. If you presume to present yourself as a moral paragon, but you turn out not to live up to your own values you should STFU until you do. I'm sure you realize that the real problem is the hypocrisy, you just choose to ignore it. If you don't understand that, well you're not real smart.
Except that she didn't present herself as a moral paragon. She has presented herself as an opponent of gay marriage, with exactly the same position on the matter as the President, Speaker of the House, and Majority Leader of the Senate. Nevertheless, you want to take potshots at her based on an answer she gave in a beauty pageant.
Do you really get that? She's a beauty pageant contestant, for goodness-sake! Exactly how much depth do you expect her to show?
However, let me point out that you can't be a hypocrite unless you actually have an idea to which you aspire. That is something the majority of the progressive left can not do. It's easy to snipe from the sidelines, but it takes some level of guts to get into the game.
