this is darryl johnson, lead vocalist for the mr. groove band. i am also a very good friend of your brother, rob's. he, in fact is one of the closest friends i have ever had, and one of very few people on this planet that i respect totally and trust completely. i have heard so much about you from him and know without a doubt that you are one of his favorite people.
i have listened to your show "the delivery" episode 9, and i must say i am QUITE impressed! i was chatting with rob online as i was listening and i told him you sound like an "intelligent" rush limbaugh (as if there could ever be such an animal). i love your passion and the way you speak to the audience as if you were right in front of us one on one instead of in the studio. it is clear that you care about themessage you are bringing and are not on the air just to hear yourself talk.
i also must say what an honor it was for you to not only feature a selection from my band's cd (rocket 88 tribute to ike turner), but offer such a magnanimous endorsement as well. to be likened to Tower of Power and that whole time period of soul/r&b really made my day, and let me know that the message came through as that is the sound i have worked so hard to acheive. thank you so much for your appreciation of our efforts and for your support, and of course for buying it. i will make sure you recieve an autographed copy as soon as possible.
thanks as well for featuring the song i wrote and performed with rob (would you still want me) last week. rob is a wonderful musician and writer, not to mention a most dynamic vocalist. i enjoy singing with him and look forward to getting started on his demo project here in nashville as soon as he is ready. i have access to some of the top session players here and plan to produce a top notch demo on him, after which i will do anything i can to get him started in his true love, that being a career in music.
back to YOU!!!
consider me a fan for life, my friend. i am so not into talk radio, but i am so into your show adn i so look forward to meeting you someday. i too am big on quotes, and one of my favorites is from tv's judge greg mathis. he said, "find something in life that you love enough to do for free, and find a way to make it pay you...". music is that thing for me and when i listen to your brother, i can hear it in his voice and see it in his eyes that it is that thing for him as well...i also hear that you LOVE broadcasting! that is why you are so good at it. it is not work for you and it is apparent. it is a pleasure to listen to you because it is a pleasure for you to speak to us.....
peace and blessings,
