Happy Birthday Stacy (And May Your Tip Jar Never Be Empty!)

Today is Stacy McCain’s birthday and I’d like to wish my friend a very happy 50th year. I hope it brings him tons of good-paying work and all the happiness and contentment he could ever want. He is, regardless of what you might hear from rumor-mongering know-nothings and people willing to defame him in order to raise their own personal profiles, a good and honorable man.

If it seems like I praise Stacy a lot on my blog, it’s because I find him praiseworthy. He is easily among the most hard-working and diligent journalists in the Washington area and I find myself envying not only his energy but his writing chops. Take a gander at this 4000+ word article he wrote for The Greenroom, which is easily good enough to be a feature story in any big newspaper’s weekend magazine or a feature story in Time or Newsweek.

He’s also a damned fine man, as his chief accomplice Smitty cleverly reveals through an extended walk through recent history and the judicious use of automobile imagery. You have to be a heck of a good guy to get a special birthday comic from Chris Muir (which, by the way, is the second time he’s “appeared” in an edition of Day by Day)!

Happy Birthday Stacy. May your tip jar be as full as Rachel Maddow’s head is empty.

UPDATE: I am most certainly not rich, which is why I have a tip jar, too! Sidebar, of course.

  1. Because it tends to disprove pet liberal beliefs about rural Kentucky, Jimmie, I am afraid that my SPECIAL REPORT: DEATH IN CLAY COUNTY is actually not "a feature story in Time or Newsweek." They pay good money for bias, a skill I've never mastered.
