Dear Lord, the left must be in Code Yellow Pants-Soiling Mode right now. Sarah Palin’s book Going Rogue: An American Life is the top seller on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble seven weeks before its release date and barely two days after the release date was announced. Heck, it’s so far from hitting the shelves that there isn’t even a cover available for the book’s page on Amazon yet.
Allah has a story in which an anonymous source in the publishing industry calls the pre-order numbers “unprecedented” and it’s hard to rationally disagree. I can’t think of any non-fiction book that has made this big a splash. Even in the fiction world, only authors like Dan Brown and J.K. Rowling get this much action (and I can’t ever remember that happening this far from the actual sale date). In fact, Palin’s book pushed Dan Brown off the top spot at Amazon, and his book hasn’t even been out a month.
It does make me wonder how the sales numbers will look when the book finally comes out, though I’d be willing to wager that they’ll still be strong since it won’t be the right making purchases. Plenty of left-wingers are going to want to comb through it as well, to find ammunition to use in their attacks. that’s good news for her, too. Not only will it put money in her pocket, but it will reaffirm that she is still the person progressives fear the most.
Oh, and by the way, good on Lynn Vincent, who co-authored a book with my friend Stacy and who worked with Palin on this one. I hope she makes out like a bandit on the book.
Heck, why not get on the bandwagon and pre-order it yourself?
