Pretty Words, Refuted by Blood
There was a lot wrong with the President’s speech today before the United Nations, but I wanted to highlight this paragraph as an example of the fibs and tyrant-pandering with which the President seasoned his speech.
As an African American, I will never forget that I would not be here today without the steady pursuit of a more perfect union in my country. And that guides my belief that no matter how dark the day may seem, transformative change can be forged by those who choose to side with justice. And I pledge that America will always stand with those who stand up for their dignity and their rights — for the student who seeks to learn; the voter who demands to be heard; the innocent who longs to be free; the oppressed who yearns to be equal.
Yes, well, that sounds wonderful, but I bet it comes as one hell of a surprise to the thousands of Iranian dissidents Barack Obama hung out to dry just a few months ago. When it really mattered, he preferred to placate their murderous ruler rather than stand up for “their dignity and their rights”.
