I See What You Did There, Mr. President
Here’s another particularly egregious bit from the President’s speech yesterday. In the section of the speech about Israel and the Palestinians he said:
We must remember that the greatest price of this conflict is not paid by us. It’s not paid by politicians. It’s paid by the Israeli girl in Sderot who closes her eyes in fear that a rocket will take her life in the middle of the night. It’s paid for by the Palestinian boy in Gaza who has no clean water and no country to call his own.
Did you see what he did there? He equated the girl and the boy as if their plight had the same basic cause – hostility by the other side. That is not the case. The Israeli girl lives in fear because Palestinian killers, with the blessing of he Palestinian government elected by the Palestinian people, are trying to kill her and everyone she knows and loves. The Palestinian boy doesn’t have clean water or a country because the government officials his mother and father chose prefer to spend the tens (or hundreds) of millions of dollars they get from the United States, Israel, and dozens of other nations on killing Israelis and padding their own pockets.
There is only one thing holding up a true and lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinian Authority: the Palestinians will not accept that the Israelis should live in peace on their own sliver of land. If the Palestinian people would elect a government that accepted that one thing, Barack Obama’s little hypothetical boy would have all the water he could want and his very own country.
The old saying remains true. If the Palestinians laid down their weapons tomorrow, they could begin living in peace in their own country with the willing assistance of their Israeli neighbors. If the Israelis laid down their arms, they would be destroyed in a week.

Nice catch Jimmie!
The "comparison" Obama makes there is absolutely disgusting.
